If you would like to attend or volunteer for the Holiday Party 2010, please contact The Little Rock Foundation at 877-220-2500 or email
dnichols@tlrf.org.
The Holiday Party was organized in 2003 to help families of blind and visually impaired children to come together and meet other families that may have similar challenges. It is not uncommon for families to think there is no one else sharing their experience. By attending the Holiday Party, families can witness first hand that they are not alone. You may have a blind or visually impaired child right in your own neighborhood!
Invitations are distributed through the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired for children who are registered under the age of twelve. The children and their families are invited to share a day of fun and excitement.
The party consists of games and prizes, face painting, world famous balloon twister, music and buffet lunch. Children leave with smiles on their faces and can’t wait to return next year!

Summer Reading Program – LRF supports Braille Literacy

Sponsored by the Little Rock Foundation and the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
The 2010 Summer Reading Program was sponsored by NJLBH, a bureau of the New Jersey State Library, in partnership with the Little Rock Foundation and the New Jersey Department of Human Services Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The reading program, planned and organized by NJLBH’s Head of Youth Services Sharon Rawlins, advocates literacy and encourages the love of reading among NJLBH’s young customers who are blind, visually impaired, deaf-blind, reading disabled or who have physical disabilities which prevent them from reading or using standard printed materials. Participants in the Summer Reading Program were required to read 6 Braille, Large Print, or audio books from animal-themed booklists, divided into five grade categories ranging from pre-school to Young Adult. Readers also wrote a short essay in which they imagined what kind of animal they would be and why they chose that animal. Prizes were raffled off for any participant in the Summer Reading Program who read at least one book.
All Applications are due by May 1, 2010
